March trip to London
Took a trip to London in March with college. Went to the Tate Modern to see the Yayoi Kusama exhibition, look her up, her work is different, She uses spots a lot. I really liked her infinity mirror room. These are just a few images that I took of the architecture and objects around the city.

Mini Concertina Books
For my latest project I have been making mini concertina books using the theme of light and movement. I came across an artist called Sarah Morpeth,(http://www.sarahmorpeth.com/) who creates delicate books. I really liked this way of working and wanted to create my own style of books.
I made 4 books, each different. All the books had the same cover, blue mountboard with brown cord and a button sewn on for the fastening.
This first book is 6cmx6cm. I took photographs using slow shutterspeed to capture the movement of light. Using glow sticks and torches I created the letters and the patterns at each end.
This book is 8cmx8cm. I got my insperation for this book from Su Blackwell, a paper artist that creates stunning sculptures using books. (http://www.sublackwell.co.uk/) She has even had her work used in Harvey Nicols, uk stores as their window displays.
I covered the book in pages from a book, I attached shapes to wire which, to show movement, spin around.
This book is 10cmx10cm. In my project book I had experimented with using thread and images from magazines and books to show movement. To make this my own image, I took a picture of my sister and threaded the movement of her hair. This carried on over the other 4 pages, and spelt out the word movement and trailing off at the end.
My final book is another 8cmx8cm. I used pastel colours to make the figures stand out from the background. Using acrylic paint I used the style of Jackson Pollock. The back of the book is also in this style but I used primary colours.

21
So I recently turned 21!! I went away for my birthday this year, (and for Christmas and new year). I went all the way to Basel, Switzerland, where my boyfriend is currently doing an industry year for his university course.
Christmas wasn't the same, being in a hotel and the Christmas dinner being microwaved!! But was still cosy and I loved spending it with my boyfriends family. (that's me in the middle, my boyfriend on the left)
While I was over there I took advantage of the Christmas markets and the Christmas lights around the City. At the time I was in the middle of a light and movement project at college so I took some photos to capture the beautiful city lit up by lights.
For my birthday my boyfriend took me to Bern and Geneva for the weekend. I had such a wonderful time, I really recommend visiting them. And in Geneva there were so many jewellery shops, too expensive for us though!

My First Post
So I have decided to start a blog.
I have never done one before so bear with me as I get used to it. I have decided to start a blog to record events and general things in my life, places I travel, my thoughts and to share my own art, and artists that I come across that interest me.
I am currently studying Art and Design, and hoping to go to university in september to study Interior Architecture. So my life currently revolves around art. I feel like I am eating, sleeping and breathing art. But i love it!
I hope you enjoy my blog and it helps or inspires anyone else interested in art!
